Thank you…
I want to thank you all for a great season and for some of you seasons. I’ve volunteered my time as a general manager for the past three years and have had the opportunity to manage at each minor level; I have made the decision not to do so next year. It has been my great privilege to spend time with the players and to get to know our parents.
You’ve heard me say it many times, the Hawkeyes are an organization ran solely by volunteers, and I want to thank all of you who have given of yourself over the last couple of years. Don’t underestimate how necessary and appreciated the things you do on game day or otherwise are. This organization cannot run without the generosity and support of our friends and family.
Volunteering with the Hawkeyes gave me a chance to have greater involvement in something of which my son is involved. With busy schedules and busy lives, it allowed me to make a difference in an organization that means something to our family and hopefully give a positive football experience to other families. And now I look forward to cheering on the team next year with all of you.
The Hawkeyes will be looking for volunteers for the 2012 season, including the position of general manager. I encourage you to consider what you are able to give to the organization — what skills or resources you can bring to the table; you may find volunteering to be a very rewarding experience.
If you are interested in learning more about how the Hawkeyes run or what you can do to help, you are invited to attend a monthly meeting. Meetings are generally held the first Wednesday of every month at 7pm, with the next meeting on Dec 7th. For more information and the location, please contact a member of the executive (contact info on www.hawkeyes.ca).
Thank you again for all of your support.
